On the Showroom Design:
Ever wonder what it takes to design a tile showroom? Take a step inside our newest addition to the world of STP: Our Orlando showroom. Nestled in the heart of the Ivanhoe design district, we're building a space where community connection meets great tile.
At Specialty Tile, all of our showrooms are designed in house and come together with hands-on collaboration. Spearheaded by our CMO, Anne Demers, our Merchandising & Orlando team has built this showroom from the tiled floor up.
When we design living spaces in our showrooms, we always try to harmonize innovative and eye-catching design with styles and selections
that clients would actually want to use in their own projects. It's such a great tool that we provide, and its always so enjoyable seeing
these spaces translated into concepts for their own projects.
The kitchen features stunning micro shaker honey oak cabinets from our friends at S & W Kitchens. We chose to forgo upper
cabinets on one wall so we could highlight the large format backsplash: a new collection called Compatta (color: Pise Melange). Using this
24x48 tile made the space feel larger and taller without modifying ceiling heights. The rammed earth look of this tile pays homage to
ancient building techniques and creates an eye-catching juxtaposition against the clean lines of the cabinetry. As a USGBC member, we
especially loved using this product as it is from one of our many carbon neutral collections.
We may be porcelain aficionados, but we still have a major affinity for natural stones, too. The island is a locally hand selected quartzite
slab with rusted, golden fissures running through a jade foreground, melting seamlessly into the overall concept for this space.
We came up with the concepts for the bathrooms while sitting in a local coffee shop after a long travel day. Our vibe is always a little
bit fun and funky, which really comes to show in these bathrooms.
For the first bathroom, we used a combination of berry and blush from our Elegance-O series, paired with the large format 32x32 Norr Farge for the floors. Sometimes people tend to operate under the assumption that anything larger than a 24x24 needs to be reserved for large, vast spaces, so I wanted to be able to showcase that that is far from the case. With the help of a great installer, we love how seamless this ceppo de gris looks with minimal grout joints.
In our other bathroom, we were inspired by the colors of a fun wallpaper. In this space, we used a combination of Emerald and Bamboo from our Drift collection on the walls, and the Florio parquet in Jinkoh from Oudh.
